Max Cruise – ALU-EXP-15
The ALU-EXP15 is a new 15m aluminium expedition sailing catamaran from ALU-EXP and Max Cruise Marine.
The design builds directly on the proven Max Cruise 48 platform. Importantly, the ALU-EXP15 does not start with an untested systems package. Max Cruise Marine has already developed, installed and tested its core systems aboard the Max 48.
These proven systems include propulsion, electrical generation, battery management, solar energy and onboard monitoring. Therefore, the ALU-EXP15 benefits from years of Max Cruise engineering and real-world experience.
However, the ALU-EXP15 takes this experience in a new direction. Its purpose-built aluminium structure focuses on serious offshore and expedition cruising.
Max Cruise handles aluminium fabrication, systems integration, testing and final fit-out. In addition, the design places strong emphasis on safety, durability, redundancy and long-range autonomy.
As a result, owners gain the strength of an aluminium expedition catamaran without relying on completely new and unproven onboard technology.

Proven Technology. New Aluminium Platform.
The ALU-EXP15 draws heavily on the successful Max 48 systems platform.
Max Cruise Marine has already tested these systems through actual installations and cruising use. Therefore, the new ALU-EXP15 can build on proven engineering rather than starting again from zero.
At the same time, the 49-foot aluminium platform brings a new level of strength and durability. It also gives the yacht the qualities needed for remote and demanding cruising.
In short, the aluminium platform is new. The Max Cruise systems behind it are already proven.
Aluminium Boatbuilding Experience
Max Cruise Marine’s experience in aluminium boatbuilding reaches back to the early Armacraft days. Armacraft built numerous aluminium vessels for military and commercial applications, where strength, reliability and durability were essential.
Terry, the owner and designer of Armacraft, brought that aluminium design and construction experience forward into Max Cruise Marine. Today, that background supports the development of the ALU-EXP15, combining proven boatbuilding knowledge with modern catamaran design, systems integration and long-range cruising capability.
